Where is the Sansevero Chapel Museum?

Posted by admin on 02/12/2019

The Sansevero Chapel Museum is located in Via F. De Sanctis, just off Piazza San Domenico Maggiore in the heart of Naples’ historical town centre. The Museum is about a minute’s walk from Via dei Tribunali (the so-called decumanus maior) and about two minutes’ walk from Via B. Croce (part of the lower decumanus, commonly known as “Spaccanapoli”). Piazza del Gesù, the monumental complex of Santa Chiara, and Via San Gregorio Armeno (“Christmas Street”), are just a few minutes’ walk from the Museum. The Sansevero Chapel Museum is in the “ZTL del Centro Antico”, the traffic-free zone of the old part of town. For information on how to reach us, please visit the Where to find us page.

How long is the visit?

Posted by admin on 02/12/2019

There is no fixed duration for visits, nor do we recommend any specific length of time. The time spent on visiting is entirely up to the individual and can vary from a few minutes to over an hour. In order to allow access to waiting visitors, guides accompanying large groups may be kindly requested by the assistants working in the museum to refrain from lingering at length in the museum areas.

Can I use the Teacher’s Card and 18app to access the Museum?

Posted by admin on 02/12/2019

The Teacher’s Card and 18app vouchers cannot currently be used at the Sansevero Chapel Museum. Any updates will be announced on our website.

We remind you, however, that when accompanying school trips, one teacher per every ten children is entitled to free access. Young people from 10 to 25 years old, on the other hand, are entitled to reduced entry at a cost of € 7.00 (instead of € 10.00).

We also remind you that the Sansevero Chapel Museum is private and does not receive – nor has it ever received – any public funding and is supported exclusively by visitor entry fees.

Is it necessary to make a reservation to visit the Museum?

Posted by admin on 02/12/2019

From 11 January 2023 all visits to the Sansevero Chapel Museum must be booked in advance.
In order to safeguard the artistic heritage of the Sansevero Chapel and to make sure all visitors can enjoy a safe and pleasant visit, daily admissions to the Museum are limited.

After booking, visitors will receive an email confirming the transaction, with the pdf tickets attached. Upon arrival at the museum, visitors must show their tickets, either printed out or on a smartphone.

Can I make a reservation by phone or email? Can I book the ticket in person at the ticket office?

Posted by admin on 02/12/2019

Small groups of up to 9 persons can also book tickets for up to 48 hours from the current date directly at the ticket office, subject to availability.
Please note that the number of daily admissions is limited and that the tickets available at the ticket office are not additional to the number of entries and time slots shown online.
Example 1:
If the 3 pm time slot is sold out on our online booking page, you will not be able to buy tickets for the 3
pm slot at the ticket office either.
Example 2:
If you see 2 tickets available for the 3 pm slot on the website, the same 2 tickets will also be on sale at
the ticket office.

We therefore recommend you always book tickets online well before the planned date of your visit.
Groups of 10 or more – and school groups – must book online and will not be able to purchase tickets at the ticket office.
Groups of 10 or more may book online up to 2 days before the date of the visit; school groups may book online up to 7 days before the planned date.
We regret that bookings may not be made by telephone or email.

Posted by admin on 02/12/2019

During the booking process, visitors must read and flag acceptance of the rules, which expressly specify that the tickets are neither modifiable nor refundable. The booking page Online tickets and the regulations clearly state that, “The ticket cannot be used on a date other than the one originally chosen” and that, “Once online purchases have been completed, they cannot be cancelled or modified in any way. I didn’t receive the email with the tickets I purchased online. What can I do?

Posted by admin on 02/12/2019

A confirmation email with the tickets in pdf format will be sent automatically a few minutes after purchase. If you do not receive the tickets, you should first make sure that the transaction has gone through. Emails sent by the system are sometimes not delivered simply because of a typing error in the email address provided during booking. Lastly, we suggest you check that the emails sent by the automatic system have not gone into the spam folder of your mailbox.
You can always find your ticket by going onto the Retrieve your ticket page and filling in the required fields.

The Sansevero Chapel Museum does not provide a guided tour service directly. An audio guide service lasting about 25 minutes is available in Italian, English, French, Spanish, and German. How long does the visit using an audio guide take?

Posted by admin on 02/12/2019

The audio guide lasts approximately 25 minutes. It takes the visitor along the entire museum route from the nave – which houses, among other works, the Veiled Christ – to the Underground Chamber, and then through to the sacristy/bookshop. The duration of the audio guide is wholly independent of the total duration of the visit: the time spent in the Museum is at the discretion of the individual visitor.

Are animals allowed inside the Museum?

Posted by admin on 02/12/2019

Regretfully, this is not permitted. This regulation also extends to small animals and/or animals in pet carriers. Visitors who have an animal with them can take turns to visit the Museum. Visitors waiting outside while looking after the animal need not queue again at the entrance but may enter directly.
The only animals allowed in the Museum are guide dogs for the disabled.
